Meeting “the one” like in a fairytale.
Ever dream of falling in love with a physician with McDreamy hair and blue eyes? Well, that dream is reality for Emily. She is a nurse and one day, she paged Roger, a brand-new physician, to help with a patient and she was instantly smitten. “I paged him and two minutes later I heard from behind me, ‘Are you Emily?’ I turned around and looked up to his big blue eyes and brown McDreamy hair. I blinked a few times and finally replied, ‘....yes,’” explained Emily. For the next eight months, she was charmed by every interaction with Roger and even told her friends “I made eye contact with Roger today, we’re basically getting married.” On Cinco de Mayo, she asked him out and the rest is history. What a fairytale romance!
The best Christmas suprise.
Emily adores the Christmas season. So when the couple planned to visit family around Kansas City for the holidays, dinner and a photo in front of the giant Christmas tree at Union Station was a must. It was the perfect opportunity for Roger to propose. While they had never specifically discussed engagement or marriage, Emily said she knew Roger was her person. When he proposed she was absolutely surprised and overjoyed. Being there to visit family, Roger rented the entire top floor of the train station restaurant so everyone could enjoy a wonderful engagement party that night.
For the wedding, Emily wanted a more modern, minimalist feel. At first during the pandemic, their wedding plans weren’t affected until about a week before. Guideline changes left them with venues that only allowed around 10 people. Fortunately, their wedding coordinator, Casey Kane from Bright DeSigns, was able to save the special day by moving all festivities to the couple’s backyard. “All of our vendors were so amazing and flexible with the changes made a week prior to our wedding day,” Emily said. “We cannot thank them enough!”
Simple touches, surrounded by greenery.
With immediate family and close friends, the entire event was spectacular. Everyone that attended helped make the wedding special by helping with set up, planning, and more. The bridesmaids wore shades of dark green that matched the color scheme of the entire wedding including the incredible florals. Emily walked down the aisle to a neon sign surrounded by a greenery wall wearing a timeless gown with jewels highlighting the straps and back of the dress.
Cambria Shelley, the wedding photographer, captured the beautiful backyard wedding with the love and support from all the guests. Emily said Cambria is absolutely a dream come true and captured their love story so beautifully. The photos showcased the lovely white roses accenting the tent, lights surrounding the happy faces and unforgettable moments for the couple to cherish forever.
A celebration with heart.
Emily and Roger had so many small details planned for their day. From a Harry Potter quote about weddings, to a Heaven Table honoring loved ones who had passed, to Emily wearing her late mom’s wedding dress to the rehearsal dinner, the entire event was filled with heartfelt celebration.
While their plans completely flipped a week before their wedding, Emily and Roger created their dream wedding. No matter the changes and challenges, it’s all about marrying the love of your life.
