Sarah and Luke wanted to make their wedding date memorable, so they picked to share their wedding anniversary with Sarah’s parents. With the true anniversary being on Sunday, they picked the day before, September 16th, so they could always share that memory together. When their wedding arrived they knew they needed to honor their parents, so when it was close to midnight they played the song they danced to 34 years ago, “Make it with you,” by Bread. It was only fitting that Sarah and Luke joined them on the dance floor. To get ready for the dance they took lessons at the dance avenue by Donovan Chestnut. Sarah recommends weekly date nights at dance class for other couples planning their wedding. They had a blast learning to ballroom dance.
When it came to their vendors they knew exactly who they wanted. Anna Jones Photography was a must have for their wedding day as they were drawn to her vision for details and unique perspective, they were very happy with the end results.
They wanted their guests to enjoy the city when they arrived, so they planned a welcoming party on Friday evening at the rooftop on grand at The Republic on Grand. It was a great atmosphere to begin their wedding weekend. The backdrop of the hotel made for stunning photos as well.
When it came to event design they chose Maya of Plum Event and Design, she had a great vision for carrying out the couples city chic theme. An all-white wedding set in the middle of the city at Cowles Commons was the perfect backdrop for their wedding. A LED dance floor, white orchids, white leather furniture, ghost chairs, balloon installation (Maya had tried to hire a balloon installation company, but after striking out, decided she would do some research and made it happen on her own!) and an ice sculpture made the perfect all-white wedding.
Food was very important for the couple and they wanted to make sure it fit their theme. They hired Taste! To Go and their guests were thrilled. An oyster bar and sushi were some of the highlights. Guests left saying it was the best wedding meal they had ever had.
The rain didn’t worry the couple because they had complete trust in Maya’s talents and planning. 15 minutes before walking down the aisle at Simon Estes the rain stopped. And if that wasn’t enough as soon as the recessional song “Here Comes the Sun” played, the sky parted and the sun came out! It didn’t rain again until 10 minutes after the band played their final song. The night was absolutely perfect!
