Meeting “the one” on the job.

A festival organizer and a photographer. It’s a love story in the making. Meredith and Josh met at the Hinterland Music Festival, an annual multi-day music festival in St. Charles, Iowa. Josh works behind the scenes for First Fleet Concerts, coordinating with bands and crews to put on the show, and Meredith was there to photograph the event for a magazine. Josh and Meredith met when he escorted her on stage to photograph the crowd. When Meredith ran into him again that night, she thanked him for a second time and they hit it off, chatting, even dancing a little bit. Before she left, Josh asked for her number. Looking back, he said, “At that moment I knew Meredith was the one.”

Back on location for the proposal.

As for the proposal, Josh had planned for Midwest LifeShots Photography, where Meredith works, to arrange for new headshots as a cover for his proposal. Meredith suspected something was up since they wanted to take the photos on the Hinterland grounds which was a 30-mile drive from Des Moines, but still wasn't sure. After headshots, the photographer and Meredith's boss casually suggested Josh hop in for some couple photos. Leaning into Josh and placing her hand on his chest, Meredith said she felt his heart racing and asked him what was going on. Josh then got down on one knee and proposed with a custom ring from Josephs that included Meredith’s late grandmother’s initials engraved on the band. It was a special touch that meant a lot to Meredith.

Planning a festival of love.

When planning the wedding, the couple knew it had to feel like a festival. For table numbers, the couple had vinyl 45’s of bands they had seen in concert. The escort cards were concert tickets with names and table numbers on them. The guest books were vinyl records everyone could sign with the couple’s name, date and location. They even had the 515 Pi food truck that was perfect for that festival vibe.

Meredith wore a beautiful Colby John trumpet-style gown from Modern Dress. With small details on the top half that highlighted her figure and an elegant train, she shined on her special day. Combining modern and classic styles, the dress was perfect for Meredith. She found her wedding dress shopping experience so fun and enjoyed playing dress-up for the day.

Making it memorable.

For their intimate wedding, Meredith carried a wonderful bouquet with shades of orange and green with white touches. From the florals at the end of the aisle to the centerpiece of the couple's reception table, all was created by Sibyl Sophia Floral. The heavenly flowers caught everyone’s attention with their delicate, blush palette.

Making their wedding memorable, Meredith and Josh combined their love for each other and the festival that brought them together to make their dream wedding. With incredible moments like their first kiss as husband and wife surrounded by raining confetti and special drinks like Marv-aritas, a drink named after their dog Marvin, the wedding was quite a festival.
