Connecting love through social media.
We see many couples start conversations online.
In the age of digital romance, while only living 15 minutes away from each other, Devin and Madeline first started talking on Facebook. Well, after Devin added Madeline as a friend on Facebook, he IMMEDIATELY messaged her just two words. “You’re cute.” And after 10 days he finally wrote back, but Madeline decided exchanging numbers would be better.
More than just a little shopping.
It’s hard to hide the proposal, but the surprise is worth it.
To create some random fun, while shopping, the couple would split up and go pick out fun little surprises for each other. One Sunday, they ventured out to the mall to do just that. Little did Madeline know, Devin was picking up her RING. He still hid it from her, giving her a shirt instead. And he held onto it until they got home that night. He attached a note to Madeline’s cat and got the cat to chase her with his cat toy. When she found the note and read it, she thought he was so sweet. She giggled to herself and called out, “where are you?!” She got a quiet reply, “in the kitchen…” Still not thinking anything of it, she rounded the corner, and there was Devin on one knee, with a stunning opal ring. She instantly said, “YES!”
A beautiful fall wedding day.
Let the season inspire your big day.
Madeline and Devin love Iowa in the fall, so they decided that was a perfect time for their wedding. And it meant Madeline could create a boho-rustic theme with deep maroons, blush, and navy. One of the first people they found to work with was their photographer Morgan Moon. “She was my go-to all day,” Madeline told us. “She knew the photos I wanted and the look I was going for.”
Their ceremony was outside on a gorgeous fall day, just like they hoped, in Greenwood Park, at Sylvan Amphitheater. As the couple was saying their hand-written vows, there was a soft gust of wind, and a hawk flew overhead. “There was something about that moment that made everything so perfect, right, and spiritual, I wish I could relive that day over and over again.”

Weddings should feel true to you and your partner.
For their reception, they spent the evening under the twinkle lights in Iowa Taproom’s Marquette Room. With the warm brick, wood, and soft lighting, it was exactly how the couple wanted to end their fall nuptials. The couple loved playing off their new last name, Fisher. They used the hashtag #onelessfisher, alluding to one less “fish” in the sea. And they gave out treats of Swedish Fish and Goldfish crackers, with bags that said: “O FISH-ally Yours.” The night was full of smiles, laughter, and plenty of dancing.
“Every girl dreams of her big day, but I literally could not have dreamt of how amazing our wedding would be,” Madeline told us. “Take the time throughout the day with your partner, remember those small moments. It’s not a cliché, it goes by so fast.”
