A simple and romantic proposal.
A 70s festival perfect for a wedding photographer’s dream wedding. Born and raised in Iowa, Kyndal and Matthew met through mutual friends at a college party and later had their first date at Cafe Beaudelaire in Ames. Little did they know, Matthew would propose to Kyndal at the same table they had their first date. While the proposal may seem entirely romantic, the wedding was an even greater affair of their love and just how sentimental the couple is.
Creating a boho festival vibe.
As a wedding photographer, Kyndal had a multitude of vendors that she knew personally. One of the couple’s favorite connections was Matthew’s best friend's parents that owned Big Red Food Truck. By wanting to make everyone feel welcomed and relaxed at the reception, the truck helped guests get up and move around while still enjoying fantastic food. The two made their day as personal as possible by using vendors they knew personally or were family friends. It created a day full of fun.
The couple held their wedding at Prairie Moon Winery, a fantastic spot for their 70s festival vibe. The venue highlighted Kyndal’s palette of dusty shades with a few bolder reds and blues. The couple said “I Do” right outside the doors of the marvelous red barn and were able to open the barn doors up for the reception. The venue helped Kyndal create her vision of her perfect day at the most perfect setting.
The right vendors can pull it all together.
The entire event was full of fabulous florals by Shelly Sarver Designs. Kyndal had a stunning floral head crown that matched flowers in her colorful bouquet. Her bridesmaids carried baskets of similar flowers with even more color that matched their red dresses. Shelly added a spectacular touch to the reception by having boats of flowers on the tables, florals in wooden pots around the venue, and even a wall with hints of flowers behind guests. The reception was complete with fun, unique touches that helped the couple create their day.
Sentimental and sweet will make the day special.
The couple used many pieces that they or their family-owned to make the occasion sentimental. From pennants they created together to rugs from family homes, the couple utilized what they had to make the space theirs in an easy, affordable way. For example, the rug they stood on during their ceremony is now the same rug in their living room. The couple enjoyed making the ceremony their own by incorporating heirlooms, home pieces and more.
Making your wedding unique to you and your partner is crucial in making the day perfect and fun. One of the main ideas Kyndal followed throughout her wedding planning was doing what she and Matthew wanted to do and not what they felt they needed to. Having a food truck and personal items throughout made the day their own. Plus, the couple decided not to have a "first look" which made it even more special when they saw each other for the first time that day as Kyndal was walking down the aisle. The two will forever cherish their wedding and how wonderful it was to share with friends and family.
