A mutual friend introduced Kelsey and Adam one evening in Denver, CO. It was pretty crazy that they had never met before, seeing as they’d both grown up in Des Moines, gone to rivalry high schools (Dowling and Valley), and both of Kelsey’s best friends had know him for years. Little did Kelsey know, she would be meeting the love of her life that night!

Since they met in Denver, it was only fitting that Adam proposed on a hiking trip in Telluride, CO. Kelsey was completely surprised and shocked to find out she had been carrying the ring in her backpack the whole time!

With all the ties they had to the area, they knew they wanted a mountain-rustic theme. They spent a lot of time together in Breckenridge, so it was never a question where the wedding would be.

Iowa natives themselves, it was important for them to show their families what they loved about Colorado. They chose the perfect venue, surrounding themselves with a huge deck that over looked the 10 mile mountain range and the beauty of the changing September leaves.

Kelsey’s favorite part about planning her big day was picking out the dress. She previously worked at Shaffer’s, in Des Moines, and couldn’t imagine getting her dress anywhere else. “Trying on dresses and choosing one was a moment that I had waited for since I was young. It made me feel like a princess and it was so much fun to have my family and friends there to help me experience it.”

After keeping it a secret for an entire year, Kelsey was beyond excited to show Adam her perfect dress. Seeing his reaction when she walked out made it unforgettable. “He loved it. It was so special to have a moment of the day that was just us two.” They both agreed, the first look was their most memorable moment, followed by the party at the reception. The dance floor was full all night. They had so much fun knowing their family and friends were having such a great time.

Kelsey’s advice for anyone planning a wedding is to not worry about the small stuff. Reflecting on her day, Kelsey said, “the centerpieces may seem like a big deal, but at the end of the day, no one will remember such smalls details about your wedding — try not to stress about the little things!”
