Reuniting of friends.
Bailey and Peter met as freshmen at Dordt College in 2006. They were both interested in each other at points along the way, but when nothing came of it, they went their separate ways. It wasn't until February 2020 that a Dordt College representative accidentally sent an alumni email to everyone in the Ann Arbor, Michigan, area, where both lived at the time. Bailey looked through the email addresses and noticed Peter’s name instantly. After exchanging emails for about a week, the two decided to meet up just to catch up with no intentions of anything romantic. Bailey even jokingly told her sister that for all she knew, Peter could have become a serial killer. However, that was of course, not the case at all! And soon after, they began their story again.
Bailey said, “It was a tremendous gift to have met when we did just weeks before the pandemic shutdown.” Living in Michigan, the two were both far from their families with Bailey’s in Iowa and Peter’s in Alberta, Canada. It was a true blessing for them to have each other at such a wild time. As for the jaw-dropping proposal, Peter arranged with Bailey’s grandparents to go horseback riding at Lake Red Rock. He even packed a little picnic for the two to share. Bailey was so surprised when he proposed with a ring he designed just for her.
Florals on the farm.
When your mom is Shelly Sarver, your day is going to have amazing florals. The team at Shelly Sarver Designs created breathtaking florals and decor everywhere that made the wedding even more special. Bailey carried a lovely, eye-catching arrangement of light, creamy colors with ceremony and reception florals that were bold bursts of color. It all made for a picture-perfect wedding. Friends and family helped in so many ways — having the wedding on a family farm, the music at the ceremony, even down to the last details of the stationery and calligraphy. It’s always nice to have family and friends that make the wedding even more special.
Vintage touches and love all around.
Even the three-tiered cake had family memories. Made by Iowa Rent-A-Cake, it was styled to look like Bailey's parent's wedding cake, completed with a topper that Bailey’s great grandparents passed down. Adding these special details really makes the day yours.
To pull off this together Bailey worked with Gina, owner of Make It Happen Events. “Her team is the dream team. Gina is incredibly organized, detail-oriented and kind," Bailey said. With the couple wanting to combine two things they love, "Pride and Prejudice" and "Lord of the Rings," Gina created a wedding day just as the couple imagined. From the amazing cake to the spectacular decor, all of these fantastic details were captured by Aly Carroll Photography. The photos were absolutely breathtaking as they encompassed the love of the happy couple and the beauty of their celebration.
