6 TIPS FOR YOUR DESTINATION WEDDING

  1. SHIP THINGS AHEAD (AT LEAST 2 – 3 WEEKS) — If you are planning on shipping decor and gifts avoid the expensive shipping costs by planning ahead!

  2. GET A LOCAL PLANNER — Enlist help, even if it's only part-time. A local planner connected with your venue is your best bet, as they can be on the ground when you can't be there.

  3. BE HOSPITABLE — Your guests are traveling a long way. Make them feel welcome. Here are some things that can help: arrival baskets, local goods, and activity books.

  4. ESSENTIALS TO PACK — Sometimes beaches require reef-safe sunscreen. Often the resort offers an expensive and ineffective option, so pack your own. Also think about bringing an insulated cup for poolside — you get to avoid small and flimsy cups while keeping your drinks cool!

  5. LET YOUR GUESTS KNOW DETAILS ASAP — It is important to give guests extra time to plan. For a save-the-date 8 – 12 months is typical. This lets your guests start planning for your big day!

  6. RESEARCH LOCAL MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS — Many countries have a "residency requirement". For example, England requires 7 days, which means you must reside in the country for a certain length of time before your ceremony.

Find your wedding colors in your surroundings and use them to your advantage. Everything can be part of your decor. And we know you want to escape the winter weather like we do, so consider the months of November to April. They’re the best to travel to the Bahamas.
