Surprises are not Ty’s strong suit. You can read him like an open book. So Cecilia was on to him as he planned the proposal. Clue #1: He asked her to plan for a walk around the park where he asked her out over 7 years ago. Clue #2: He reminded her multiple times not to forget about Saturday. Clue #3: When he picked her up he was quiet and nervous, which Ceci tells us is very unlike him.
When the couple made it completely around the path and nothing happened, Ceci was genuinely confused, had she read him wrong? Then she turned and saw their families at the top of the hill holding flowers and champagne, yelling “SURPRISE!” She turned back to Ty and he was down on one knee. The moment still caught Ceci off guard and it was an unforgettable moment for the couple.
The couple decided to have an evening ceremony, starting 7 p.m. They were hesitant at first, but it allowed the couple to enjoy the day as well as let their guests explore Des Moines and spend quality time together.
Ceci found many talented vendors that fit their style. Anna Jones used her artistic touch to shoot their day to have a look of timeless grace. Maya, of Plum Event + Design created florals and table designs that blended with the already stunning atmosphere of West End Salvage for their reception. And the creative mind behind their invites, Sara McCoy of The Permanent Collection, gave the couple an elegant letterpress invite. “We know it’s tempting to cut costs or use family and friends, but hands down the communication and expertise of using people in the wedding industry is worth it. Choose your vendors wisely and trust they will do wonderfully; being worry-free on your wedding day is priceless!” Ceci told us.
The couple’s favorite moment? Their first kiss. “There are no words to describe the bliss of marrying the love of your life in the presence of family & friends.”
