David and Abbie met in college through friends and a shared chemistry class. It was, in fact, the best kind of chemistry, and 4 years later they were still dating, but living apart while David was stationed at the Jacksonville, NC military base. Abbie came out for a visit and he suggested a drive to a botanical garden.
The day was hot and the couple was starting to sweat, but David seemed to be sweating a little more than normal, Abbie remembers. They decided to sit by a beautiful fountain and that’s where he asked her to marry him. She said yes! And they quickly called their families to tell them the good news.
Abbie was inspired by the wedding of Katrina Scott from ToneItUp.com as well as elements she saw on Pinterest. She loved the feel of Katrina’s beachy vibes and wanted to bring in tropical elements into their wedding through flowing dresses, bright colors and tropical accents. We LOVE
the pineapples.
Katie Lindgren was their photographer and helped Abbie plan out a detailed timeline for the day. “I had no idea how long things would take throughout the day. She was great at always answering any questions I had.” Abbie told us. Katie even sent a handmade Christmas ornament with their photo and date
as a special keepsake.
That morning, the bridal party got to enjoy a love-themed yoga session to start their day with Abbie’s former church group leader, Katie. “It was perfect and the most centering way to start the day with someone who has been one of my biggest supporters.”
Abbie’s favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing David cry as he looked at her. David had just returned before the wedding, after being six-months deployed. That made Abbie just that more grateful to be standing there in front of him, in a moment she had been dreaming
about for so long.
